Omerta FAQ |
|
Omerta is an online text-based game where you play the role of a Mafioso. You can do crimes to grow more and
more powerful, and eventually getting your boys to do your dirty jobs. This game is endless and can never be beaten, but it
is full of fun and most of all, its absolutely free. If you have any questions, contact the crew through the Ticket System button on the menu. You can ask a question, and it will be answered by a staff member (i.e. helpdesk, moderator, etc). You
also can ask a question to a helpdesk member in private. If they are online, they will be listed in the crew section of the
Users Online page.
Cheating:
Even though we are developing this game to make it as free of cheats/cheaters
as possible, there might probably still be ways to cheat. If you cheat by exploiting bugs, writing macros or duping, you risk
an IP-ban and your character(s) will be removed. If we catch you hacking other members we will give the logs to the abuse
department of your provider.
This is a Help page! That means that these are not the rules of the game, its
just a manual, or handbook, for all new players. Make sure you read everything and get acquainted with all of Omertas
features. |
Getting Started |
|
Welcome to Omerta,
For beginners, reading the FAQ is an excellent idea, as it should get you
along the game step by step. One of the first steps is to make money, as you can't live without it. In Omerta, you can buy
bullets, add someone to the hitlist, buy booze for booze runs, and loads more. As beginner, everyone starts with 500 Omerta
bucks. This of course is not a big pay, and you cant really do much with it, so start doing crimes! In the beginning
it will be boring as you will find yourself in jail a lot, but believe me, it will be much better once you gain ranks! Just
hang on.
After a while, when your money starts to increase, you can begin to do crimes which will bring you even more
money, and above all, you can also start stealing cars. This is a good thing to start with, as the cars that you get will
be good for car races or organized crimes (you can also just sell the cars for money).
When you see your money increase,
it's about time to think about doing booze runs. Try to find some liquor on the streets and travel to other cities to see
if you can dump it for a higher price there. You can only travel by train if you don't have an airplane. Just be patient,
soon enough you will own your own airplane! As you can see, you need to rest between crimes, the times for each crime are
different, but in the status window you can see the time that you have to wait until you are able to do the next one. :)
The
next thing to worry about is a family. Usually families bring protection from being killed as they will hit back. But be careful,
some families don't bring that peace and are wiped out in a few hours just because of trying to fight with the wrong guy.
You do have to pay the family a contribution for being in it; every time you make some money automatically an amount goes
to the family bank which is handled by the Don of your family.
After this short intro you can go on and choose something
on the index below to see more detailed information about a specific part within Omerta. |

Game |
|
2.1) Status |
The status menu is purely for personal information about your health, status and other statistics of you in the game.

Points
have to do with your rank, money and some other stuff which you have to find out for yourself. They will determine your definite
position! (When you reach #1 you have to look at points to see who is the highest) Depending on what you do in game, you'll
start getting points. |
2.2) Bank |
The bank can be used for a number of things. To be exact, 3 things: transfer money to and from your bank account, transfer
money to your family bank account or to transfer money to other members of the game. Please note that there is a transfer
fee of 10% to transfer money to and from each other. You can choose a person from your friend list instead of typing in a
name. To add someone to the friends list you have to go to his user info page and click on the add user to friend
list button. On this page you will be able to see the last 10 transfers from and to other users in the game. |
2.3) Shop/Market |
The shop is a useful place to protect or arm yourself against those fellow gangsters here in the game. The more protection
you buy the harder it will be to get killed, so protect yourself. You can buy bodyguards, guns and even a house to protect
yourself with. Note: When you buy a house in an city you the protection you gain from that house only counts for that city.
If you know that someone is after you, you can buy time in the safe house. If you are in the safe house nobody can hurt you
a little bit, but you won't be able to play or even communicate within the game. There is a maximum of 9 hours and 15 minutes
in the safe house but it will cost a lot Minutes^2 * 100 Omerta money.

Buying a plane means that you can
travel across the border over the ocean instead of over land by train. The Airplanes will become more expensive as their travel
time decreases. |
2.4) Travel |
Traveling is used for different purposes: running away from someone that is trying to kill you, doing booze runs, going
to a location for Organized crimes or traveling from and to your hometown as every family is bound to one city, being in your
own city has pro's and Con's. A pro is that you're family offers you more protection in your hometown, a con is that its
more likely for your enemies to find you! |
2.5) Bulletfactory |
In every city there are two bullet factories, one owned by a fellow member and one by the local mob bullets are used for
things like organized crimes or whacking a person. Also having bullets means that you are better protected against a killing
attempt or even the possibility that you kill the person who tries to kill you in backfire. You will never know when the local
mafia will bring out their bullets, the time and price that they are available for are completely random but are between 100
and 1000 Omerta money. The bullet factories owned by mobster can choose their own price, but can only adjust them if he is
in the same country as the bullet factory is. He may choose between producing and not producing. If he chooses to produce,
his factory will produce 1000 bullets every 60-90 minutes randomly. If an owner is in a family, the family will charge 75%
of the price of a bullet. If he's not, the local mafia will be charging 75%. |
2.6) Arcade |
Just something to pass the time between crimes or a serious assault on the high score, take a break from the criminal
underworld in the Arcade. |
2.7) Local Bulletfactory |
This is basically nothing new. Its the good old Buy bullets at the local mafia factory link
that was in the normal Bulletfactory page, except now it has its own link in the menu. See 2.5 (above) for more info on bullet
factories. |
2.8) Detectives |
Killing is not easy, first you have to find a person detectives can help you with this: just fill in the city and time
that you want the detective in and click on hire, soon you will have a net of detectives spread out over all cities trying
to find that guy you want to kill. When the detectives find your person, you will get a warning in your inbox, don't ignore
but travel as soon as possible to the place where that dude is hiding. If you're too slow, the bird may be lost. If a detective
found your victim, he will follow him in the same city for some hours. |
2.9) Kill |
Easy as hell, first find the dude with a detective, go to the city where the guy is hiding, aim, and pull the trigger.
There is a maximum of 60.000 bullets though. And be careful, he might have backfire power and get you killed as well. The
victim can shoot back twice as hard as you did, if he has got that many bullets. |
2.10) Bloodmarket |
Need some extra cash? Why not drop by the Hospital and give some blood in exchange for money? Specify the amount of blood
units you want to put up for sale, and a reasonable price for them. Then all you have to do is wait for a wounded person who
can accept your bloodtype to buy your blood! See the table at the bottom of the Bloodmarket page for a list of compatible
bloodtypes. Also, note that all items will be deleted after 5 hours if they are not sold, and that the hospital charges a
10% transfer fee. |
2.11) Honour points |
Honour points are measuring the respect you get by other members. Every member is allowed to give away one honor point
a week. Your position will also depend on the amount of honour points you have.
Honour points are a way of toning
respect for other players and a way of showing how much respect you are worth.
Each member is awarded one honour
point per week to give away or keep. Your honour points will contribute towards your game points tally and therefore also
to your ranking in Omerta. |
2.12) Hitlist |
Scared of getting killed by backfire or don't have the bullets? Or maybe you don't want other people to know that you
want someone dead? Then the hitlist is an idea, just place the guy for a reasonable amount of money and wait till he gets
shot. You can add a person anonymously but do notice that it will cost 25% of the total amount for anonymous hit listing.
If you kill someone who is on the hitlist you will receive the money in cash. To buy someone off the list it will take you
twice as much money as the victim was hitlisted for. |
2.13) Pillory |
The pillory also known as The Hall of Shame Being here is the worst thing you can imagine as a gangster.
People can throw tomatoes at these bastards for $5.000 a piece. He loses health (1%) for every tomato thrown at him. If he
has no health left he will die from just one simple tomato, and the lucky gangster that has thrown the fatal tomato will receive
his cash! |
2.14) Jail |
The place you will be in a lot, especially in the beginning. In the jail page you can try to bust someone out or play
a jail game' to kill time. You can end up in jail if you attempt to do a jail bust and fail, try to steal a car, or
do a crime. |
2.15) The Times |
Stay current with news on the field, here at The Times you can read stories submitted by our team of talented writers.
The Times is Omerta 2.1s main source of news. If you wish to do some freelance work, you can send your articles to
times@barafranca.com, and depending on whether we have the extra space and if they are good enough, you might have a chance
to get your article in! |
2.16) Auctions |
You can sell your Bullet factory, roulette or any other kind of property on the auctions and buy here as well. When an
auction is set up, you can see it on the auctions page just give the amount of money you want to spend on the machine and
hit go. |
2.17) Car races |
Try hitting your luck on the car races just invite someone you know to race and get settled, you can either race for money
or for the 2 cars in the race. Because of your desire to win, your car will always be damaged anywhere from 1% to 10%. |

on the right hand side of the screen. You can have 15 messages in your inbox. |
3.2) Send Message |
You can send a message to your fellow mobsters, just type in the name and hit send. To send a message to more
people at once just type ; after each nick so example: nick1;nick2;nick3 Also you can easily send a message to someone who
is on your friends list. Just hit the pull down menu and choose the person in question. |
3.3) Forum |

Crime |

4.2) Booze |
Buy some booze and do some bootlegging by traveling from place to place buying and selling booze, please note
that you can only carry a certain amount of booze depending on what rank you are. |

kindergarten children but give it a few days and you will be able to do the most crimes without getting caught. |
4.4) Nick a Car |
Nicking a car is the same thing as doing some low life crimes, only the amount of money made with stealing cars
is a little bit more and you can use the cars for an organized crime or a race. Be careful, don't keep your cars too long
or the Feds will steal them from you! The expensiveness of the car gives the quality of the car used in an organized crime.
You can also fix up your car in the garage or put it in the safehouse so that it is safe from the Feds until
your next OC. |
4.5) Garage |
In the garage you can see all the cars you have stolen in the game. Here you can repair, sell and store them. |
4.6) Organised Crime |
An organized crime is done by 4 people: a leader who starts the organized crime, a Weapons expert, Explosion
expert and a Driver. Every person has his own part in the crime, the leader makes sure there is a safe house to hide in and
splits up the money, the weapon expert brings the guns and the bullets, the explosion expert will make sure that the safe
will be blown up and the driver makes sure you can get to the safe house. The better ranks involved in the organized crime
and the more money put into the organized crime makes the profit go higher. |
Family |
|
5.1) Not Part Of A Family |
If you are not part of a family, it may be worth joining one because a family will provide you with protection
against death. They will take up to max 10% (Depends on the percentage the family wants from there members) from whatever
money you make with crimes, but its worth it. |
5.2) Create A Family |
You may create a family, but you are bound to a city. Every city has their own maximum of families and sizes
as well as their costs to set up. If you want to create a family try and find an empty spot and if you can't find one, wipe
out a family first and take the empty spot. Remember: if you buy a head-quarter for 50 people you will never be able to enlarge
that amount. |
5.3) Family Forum |
In here the family can talk, if you are not in a family you wont be able to access this part of the game each
family will have a forum. The don will be able to delete messages. |
5.4) Family Capo Control panel |

5.5) Capo Forum |
Another forum. The capo can delete messages. |
5.6) Car Convert |

this guy will take over the crew if the don dies. They will be able to invite, kick users out of their crew, change the family
quote etc. and setting the paying percentage. The paying percentage can be set between 0-10%. This amount goes directly into
the family bank, any people under a capo will however pay their capo 1% of all their earnings while they remain in that regime.
This is in addition to the paying percentage set by the family and cannot be altered. Families can specify more things, like
promotion money, join money, Paying percentage, etc. The Don can also change the Family name for $100.000.000 Just look around
the Control Panel to see all the new features. There is also a new position called The Hammer. This guy is anonymous, like
the successor, and is the family's great killer. He receives 1% of the bullets all the family members buy at the local
bullet factory, and he can kill with more ease! |
5.8) Capo di tuti capi's |
The position of Capo Di Tuti Capi means you are the head Don for the city in which your family resides. This
position allows you to either see every gangster that is in your city or quickly search to see if a particular individual
is in your city. Of course these actions are not free they cost money. |

6.5) Roulette |
The roulette is a wanted option in the game; you can score big money with it, or loose it all. An owner places
the maximum bidding for his roulette. |

Frequently asked questions |
|
9.1) General |
Q: What is the time between 2 crimes, cars & OCs? A: Crimes:
1.5 minutes, cars: 5 minutes, OCs: 12 hours
Q: I accidentally registered with wrong name
and/or e-mail address. Can you change it for me? A: No we can't, it costs too much
time.
Q: I somehow lost money but I don't know how. Can you explain? A:
No we cannot. But here's a hint: Refresh your status and see if it says something different! Or maybe consider
your lost money as someone gambling at your casino or the periodical costs for your Bullet factory!
Q:
In what cases can I open a ticket, and in what cases should I contact a helpdesk member first? A:
You may open a ticket if you know something is wrong and you have proof to show your problem. You may also open
a ticket if you think someone is duping or if you wish to report a bug. If you don't know if you should open a ticket or contact
a helpdesk member: Contact a helpdesk member and if he suggest that you need to open a ticket, do it.
Q:
How can I donate, and what will I get? A: Click on Donate, and read it carefully.
At the moment the thing you get from becoming a donating member is that your click limit will be raised to 40 instead of 11.
Q: My leader in the organized crime didnt pay me! What now? A:
Put him on the hitlist, kill him, do whatever you want, but don't bug admins/helpdesk members about it because
they won't do anything.
Q: I believe I got hacked, can you help me? A:
Yes and no, hackers are not allowed in this game, and they will be banned immediately. But if you got hacked and
suddenly all your money is gone, we cannot give back anything. To avoid getting hacked do and don't do the following things: -
Never give your password to anyone, there were and will be the tragedies of people getting hacked by their closest friends. -
Use a hard to guess password. So don't use Kevin if your real name is Kevin, because you will see that your friends will walk
away with your money.
|
9.2) Game FAQ |
Q: What must I do if someone threatens me? A: In
the gangster world, there is always a risk for threats, so you have to live with it. But, if someone threatens you with a
killing in real life, please report this to us in Ticket System These people will be dealt with by the admins.
Q: Where can I find Family spots? A: Each city has a fixed
amount of family spots, so its just a matter of luck for you to find one that has not been taken yet.
Q:
How much does a family cost? A: The cost for a family depends on the amount
of members you want for your family. The costs are: $25.000.000 for a HQ with 50 members, $50.000.000 for a HQ with 100 members,
and $100.000.000 for a HQ with 200 members.
Q: What happens if I die in the game? A: Basically if you die in the game you have to remake a new account. And start all over again.
Your old account will not be accessible anymore. However there are some cases where a user gets an Ip ban and will not allowed
to remake new accounts, this is usually for cheating or very offending text/racism.
Q: How
do I join a family? A: Joining a family isn't that easy for a starter. First you
need to rank to a certain level before an family will accept you. To see which family's are recruiting members you can go
to an family profile. Most of the time you will also see the minimum rank you have to be before you can join. On IRC (See
3.5) there is a channel where you can find the family's who are recruiting. The Channel name is #recruiting.
Q: Is there a faster way to rank? A: The fastest way to rank
to another level in Omerta is to do alot crimes and nicking cars. Traveling also helps!
|
9.3) Dupes |
Q: May I play with more people on one account? A: No,
if you get caught your account will be immediately killed.
Q: What will happen if I have
a dupe? A: Your accounts will be removed.
Q: I
was removed but I did not have a dupe, can you give me my account back? A: No.
Q: I know some people that do have dupes, can I report them to you? A:
Sure, open a ticket with their names in Ticket System
Q: Does it matter
if I tell you that my brother and I are playing on the same IP? A: No, it doesn't
matter; we can't stock all those 'brothers' etc. in our minds...
Q: Is it permitted to
log into another place with my account? A: Yes, but there is always a risk of beeing
suspected for account sharing, so first make sure that the place you log in does not contain other accounts!
Q: Can I play with my brother/ sister/ neighbours or co-workers on the same IP? A:
Yes, but you have a higher risk of being recognised as a cheater! So don't transfer money, do OCs together, put
each other in your testaments or give each other honour points! Otherwise the chances are high that you won't be spared! You
may send each other msgs and put each other on the friendslist. Never play on each others account!
|
9.4) Bugs |
Q: I suddenly lost money but don't know how, may I report it? A:
No you may not.
Q: I lost stuff (money etc.) and I do know the reason, may
I report it and get the stuff back? A: You may report it in Ticket System
but we won't give you back anything. |
